Second home owners feeling the pinch

The Times has an article on how second home owners, feeling pressure from redundancy and investment losses are looking to rent out homes. This will increase the supply but hopefully demand will keep up!

Maybe demand will stay up if the euro stays up! Also seen the news that Air Southwest is opening up a new route to and from London City that could help.

Thanks Rob. That is good news! I'm still not convinced how many people use domestic flights to come down to the South West - it would be great to see more - as long as they offset their carbon ommissions of course!

Well, anecdotally I have heard only good things from our contacts in the holiday home rental sector, e.g. from one large UK holiday home portfolio owner that they booked 19 out of 20 units for Easter so that's good going. Euro is still high and the press seem to be getting some momentum behind the whole UK holiday trend. How are things looking in the South West for bookings from Europeans ? Talking to someone in the Brecon Beacons, they have had a lot of enquiries from Dutch guests.

We were 95%+ booked at Easter which is great. We are feeling very positive but there are still mixed reports from SW operators.

We've seen enquiries double this year from overseas guests, especially Euro-based. Germany in particular looks strong as a potential source.
